Terri Bunsen, chief privacy officer at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, IL, says physicians were on board with the EHR because they were simply told it was the way the hospital was going to do business.
“Everyone knew that this wasn’t going to be a pilot,” Bunsen says. NorthShore includes four hospitals and more than 70 physician practice office locations in the greater North Shore and northern Illinois communities. It is one of two recipients of the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) Analytics Stage 7 Award, along with Kaiser Permanente, a leading healthcare provider and nonprofit health plan serving 8.6 million members in California.
