CMS explains the importance of HIPAA 5010

CMS issued a special edition Medlearn Matters article (SE0904) that provides an overview of the HIPAA 5010 that will replace current version 4010 as of January 1, 2012. At this time, hospitals must be ready to submit claims electronically using this new version. Version 5010 is a prerequisite for implementing ICD-10 in 2013.
