Although the 2009 OPPS final rule didn’t introduce any major changes, EDs still face a host of operational challenges involved in critical care.
As always, E/M levels must reflect resources consumed, and you still must have written policies and procedures reflecting the 11 points of the E/M guidelines stated in the OPPS 2008 final rule.
