CMS released its January quarterly update to the I/OCE December 31, 2008, effective January 1 (“January 2009 Integrated Outpatient Code Editor Specifications Version 10.0”). The I/OCE update may not cover some changes (e.g., code changes) as completely as other CMS guidance, Dave Fee, MBA, product marketing manager of outpatient products at 3M Health Information Systems in Murray, UT, says in his periodic review of the I/OCE update. This quarter’s new and deleted code lists should be self-explanatory, Fee says.
