It’s every HIM director’s dream: a relatively seamless EHR implementation that leads to greater efficiency, reduced transcription errors, and enhanced patient safety.
But what if an EHR also leads to a corporate HIM department that oversees coding, scanning, record storage, and release of information? And what if that department had significantly fewer FTEs, a centralized and almost entirely remote coding staff, and directors who oversee it all from an off-site location? Do such concepts elevate your dreams or feel more like a nightmare?
