Oregon VA posts patient information on Web

The Portland, OR Veterans Affairs (VA) Department mistakenly posted Social Security numbers on the Internet for some 1,500 patients under its care, the Associated Press reports.
Only patients who had received treatment at the 149-bed VA Medical Center in Portland were affected, according to VA Department officials. Officials have since deleted the information. The VA is also offering free fraud prevention and credit reporting services to the patients.
