The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released publication SP 800-124, “Guidelines on Cell Phone and PDA Security,” November 1. The publication provides information on the following topics:  

  • Cell phones and PDAs currently in use
  • Making appropriate IT security choices regarding the devices
  • Relevant threats and technological risks
  • Options for mitigating cell phone and PDA security threats
  • Ways to reduce the number of security incidents that may occur
