ACDIS is pleased to welcome Melissa Varnavas as its new associate director. In this role, she will manage CDI Journal and the bi-weekly e-mail newsletter CDI Strategies.
Ms. Varnavas previously acted as senior managing editor for the healthcare corporate compliance group at HCPro Inc., producing books, audio conferences, newsletters, and electronic learning tools. She earned a 2008 editorial excellence award from the Specialized Information Publishers Foundation and has also achieved recognition from the New England Press Association and the Massachusetts Press Association.
“Melissa’s been a proven member of our team,” says Brian Murphy, CPC, ACDIS director. “We’re excited to have her bring her expertise to our growing association.”
“Clinical documentation specialists play a pivotal role in returning the care to healthcare,” she says. “In this changing regulatory environment, we need these special folks to communicate a wide range of documentation concerns to various healthcare stakeholders. This is quite an opportunity and I’m glad to be a part of the ACDIS community.”
In addition, Ms. Varnavas will be working with ACDIS board members to expand local networking opportunities, helping to manage the annual ACDIS conference, and developing additional books, audio conferences, and electronic learning tools for the ACDIS membership.
