San Juan Regional Medical Center has terminated the employment of a nurse who publicized an altercation with law enforcement officials, The Daily Times of Farmington, NM, reported October 11.
A Farmington police officer allegedly pushed the nurse during an altercation over patient privacy, according to the article. The nurse’s formal police complaint accuses Officer Mike Briseno of assault and disregard of privacy laws during the altercation. While in the medical center monitoring another patient, Briseno, a member of his department’s gang task force, recognized a 14-year-old patient undergoing treatment nearby. The disagreement arose when Briseno allegedly refused to give the young patient privacy while changing into a hospital gown.
