On July 15, Congress enacted the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA). The timeline for MIPPA is as follows:

  • Passed by House of Representatives: June 24
  • Passed by Senate: July 9
  • Vetoed by President George W. Bush: July 15
  • Veto overridden: July 15
  • Effective date: Varies by provision
