Think you have no control when a CMS surveyor is conducting an onsite survey? Think again. Surveys present first-hand learning opportunities and the chance to begin corrective action the minute you know surveyors have detected a problem. If a problem is identified, don’t play the blame game. Have the department or services head develop and implement corrective action immediately. Not only will doing so bring you into compliance, it will look great to CMS that you initiated corrective action the day the deficiency was identified.
