Tip of the week: Have a physician advisor help your coders interpret clinical information

A physician advisor can help coders interpret unique clinical aspects of cases. He or she can also serve as a champion for coders. For example, a physician can remind another physician who has poor documentation habits about the effects of this documentation on the coding staff. This interaction can be a powerful agent toward changing bad habits.
