A Stockholm hospital has suspended one of its nurses upon learning that she posted 14 photographs of two surgical procedures on her Facebook page, The Daily Telegraph reported August 19.
Officials at Karolinska University Hospital are conducting an inquiry and are considering whether to report the nurse to the police or to terminate her employment, according to the London newspaper. The nurse reportedly posted photographs of the brain surgery and a back operation to impress friends with her high-powered job. One photograph showed her holding indeterminate body parts of the patient’s body.
Cameras are permissible in operating theaters only when their intended use is as teaching aids for students, the newspaper reported. The nurse apparently used her mobile phone.
