Report 29999 for radiofrequency capsular ACL tightening. In radiofrequency capsular shrinkage, the physician uses heat to modify collagen in ligamentous soft tissue, thus contracting the ligament. This procedure is considered investigational or medically unnecessary by most insurance companies.
Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield of New York has prepared some guidance on this procedure. It labels it as an investigational or medically unnecessary procedure at this time.
