2.2 million University of Utah patients' information taken from courier vehicle

Backup tapes containing the billing records of 2.2 million University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics patients were stolen from a courier’s vehicle, the Associated Press (AP) reported June 10.
A courier delivering the tapes to Perpetual Storage, Inc., on June 1 failed to take the backup tapes to the storage center immediately, according to the article. The theft occurred sometime later that evening when someone broke into the courier’s vehicle parked at the courier’s home.
The hospital if offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the tapes, according to the AP.
