Medical data for 128,000 WellPoint customers exposed online

Wellpoint, the nation’s largest health insurer by membership, has reported that information about 128,000 customers was exposed on the Internet during the last year, according to an April 9 article in The Louisville (KY) Courier-Journal. The insurer has since resolved the problem and is notifying customers.

 

The data may have included Social security numbers and medical information, according to the article. Welpoint is providing free credit monitoring to those affected.
