Tip of the week: Concurrent hydration with separate access sites

If a separate venous access site is started for medically necessary hydration along with another venous access site for a therapeutic infusion, report an initial service code for the hydration and the appropriate initial service code for the other infusion access site. However, the CPT Manual makes it clear that hydration running concurrently through the same access site is not separately reportable.
