PPV: Improve documentation and coding now before recovery audit contractors go national in 2010

Recovery audit contractors (RAC) have identified certain target DRGs and compliance areas as part of Medicare's demonstration program, and in light of Medicare's newly released fiscal year 2007 status document, one point remains clear: Facilities need to take a closer look at physician documentation within these areas to pinpoint weaknesses that could lead to problems when the RAC program expands nationally.
