The Dental Network, a CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield dental HMO, posted 75,000 members' information on a public Web site for two weeks in February because of a technical error, according to a March 26 article in The Baltimore Sun.
Information posted online included member names, addresses, birthdates, and Social Security numbers, according to the article.
The Dental Network discovered the breach February 20 and notified affected members-largely Washington, DC, and Maryland residents-via letter March 10, according to The Baltimore Sun. The affected members will receive a year of free credit monitoring.
