A: The Joint Commission has identified the following IM standards as being the most challenging between January 1 and June 30, 2007 for hospitals and critical access hospitals:
- IM.6.10: The hospital has a complete and accurate medical record for patients assessed, cared for, treated, or served.
- IM.6.50: Designated qualified staff accept and transcribe verbal or telephone orders from authorized individuals.
The Joint Commission identified these standards--along with 10 other standards and six National Patient Safety Goals--as being the most "not compliant." Hospitals can use this information to perform internal benchmarks to ensure compliance.
