A laptop containing psychological screenings for over 400 job applicants was stolen from a California contractor, according to a January 31 Sacramento Bee article.

The laptop was stolen from the car trunk of the unnamed contractor, a psychologist for the state, while he or she was vacationing in Mexico. The contractor reported the theft January 15.

The computer contained "raw data" from interviews with state peace officer job applicants, Sherry Evans, Personnel Board spokeswoman, told The Sacramento Bee. The state notified applicants of the problem January 25, and has established a toll-free number for them to call with concerns and questions.
