Sales representatives, Elena Ferrante of Montvale, NJ and Mark Engelman, of Laguna Niguel, CA, are suing their former employer, the biotech company Amgen, Inc., for pressing sales staff into searching though confidential medical records to boost sales of a drug for treating psoriasis, according to a January 9 Associate Press (AP) article.
Ferrante and Engelman refused to go along with the scheme-one that violates HIPAA-and are suing for lost pay, punative damages, and other compensation, says the AP.
