There's no sense in re-inventing the wheel; look at corporate compliance plans for HIPAA policies and procedures

There's something eerily familiar about a lot of the HIPAA requirements to many health care professionals. That's because they are very similar to the policies and procedures that are already in place as part of their organizations' corporate compliance plans.
"These are not things that are new," says Christopher Coleman, MPH, associate vice president of regulatory operations and analysis at Strategic Management Systems, Inc., in Alexandria, VA. "It's just another compliance issue. The Office of Inspector General, under the compliance program guidance, has already placed [privacy and security issues] into its list of things to have in an effective corporate compliance plan."
