Three laptops containing records for approximately 12,000 patients were reportedly stolen from a locked room at Roudebush Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center, an Indianapolis hospital, the Indianapolis Star reported November 15. The VA says that the laptops were stolen November 10.

The patient data is password-protected, but the VA is contacting those patients whose information may have been compromised by the theft and is offering them free credit monitoring, according to the article.
