Dayton's Rhea Medical Center (RMC) and the Dayton Ministerial Association (DMA) have teamed up to train clergy to comply with HIPAA when they visit area hospitals, according to the Dayton, TN-based Herald-News.
"With this training we can certify that everyone involved is knowledgeable about the HIPAA requirements and will be able to comply with HIPAA expectations," says RMC's director of nursing, Bonnie Morrow, in the November 11 Herald-News article.
RMC will implement new procedures for chaplaincy, says John Anderson, DMA Chairman. Patients will complete a form upon admission indicating whether they wish to see a member of the clergy, and if they want their religious affiliation listed in the patient directory. And those clergy and volunteers who undergo HIPAA training will receive identification badges recognized at area hospitals, according to the article.
