The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is eliminating paper certificates and replacing them with an online verification tool to make the verification process more accurate, according to the Fall issue of NCCPA Quarterly.

"In our technology savvy world, there is an increasing risk that paper documentation can be altered," Janet J. Lathrop, MBA, NCCPA president was quoted in the article as saying. "Such a potential risk is unacceptable because it puts the integrity of the PA-C credential and all those who carry it at risk."

MSPs can now verify certifications using NCCPA's online tool Verify PA-C, which allows the information to be requested directly by a third party (i.e., an MSP) or requested by a physician assistant and sent to a third party via email or postal mail.
