Tip of the week: Primary and secondary source verifications

The following is a list of some of the application items which require source (or issuer) verification:
- Information from all prior and current professional liability insurance carriers concerning claims, suits, and settlements, and restrictions or limitations of coverage during the past five years
- The applicant's clinical work experience during the past six to 12 months
- Licensure status in all current or past states of practice (available online)
- Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)/ State Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) certificate (if needed)
- The Office of Inspector General's list of individuals/entities excluded from Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal payment programs (available online)
