The following is sample bylaw language concerning the automatic suspension of sponsored allied health professionals (AHPs). Please remember to check with the appropriate offices in your organization before making any changes to your bylaws.
"A physician who has privileges at XYZ Hospital may apply on behalf of AHPs for AHP privileges. Such AHP privileges should be contingent upon the sponsoring physician's privileges. When a physician loses privileges or resigns, the AHPs whom he or she has sponsored automatically loses their privileges. They are not entitled to due process procedures enumerated in the medical staff bylaws, collective bargaining agreements, or elsewhere."
This bylaw language was excerpted from The Greeley Company's Guide to Medical Staff Bylaws, by Todd Sagin, MD, JD and Joseph Cooper, MD, which can be found here.
