An application request procedure is a policy that outlines how prospective practitioners can obtain an application to join your medical staff. While policies vary by organization, setting clear expectations about who qualifies to apply can save you time.
Medical staffs employ a variety of techniques to weed out applicants who do not qualify for membership. One tactic is to include a listing of the qualifications for membership when you send out an application, and inform the applicant not to proceed with the application if they do not qualify.
Include that requirement as part of your application request procedure in your credentialing policies or bylaws. Following is a sample of such language:
Any applicant not meeting the board's criteria for membership outlined in the cover letter to the application will not have his or her application processed and will not be entitled to a fair hearing or any of the rights and due process provided under the medical staff bylaws.
