Annual credentialing reports should summarize information about the credentialing process and provide your organization with an opportunity to analyze and improve current practices.

The key to an effective annual credentialing report is to focus on the big picture, and to avoid letting the report get mired down in specific or irrelevant data. Remember, the members of the committee involved in the everyday credentialing cycle will have already seen much of that information throughout the year.

So what should it include? Consider including information on the performance and progress that has been made in achieving goals set by the previous year's report. If this is the first year you're compiling an annual report, outline the duties of the credentialing committee and set goals for the coming year.

The report should also provide data on the following questions:

  • What is being done well?
  • What improvements can be made?
  • What steps or processes cause potential risk for the organization?
