Arkansas lawsuit highlights the legal risks of credentialing

Most medical staff offices are aware of the potential legal risks involved with credentialing, but a recent lawsuit in
A Hardy, AR, doctor-and the medical clinic he worked for-have been named in a civil lawsuit by Mountain Home bank and trust on behalf of a man who allegedly died from a dosage of medication related to fibromyalgia, The Baxter Bulletin of Arkansas reported earlier this month.
The suit was filed against Donald Lamoureaux, MD, Hardy Medical Clinic, the White River Health System (which maintains the clinic), and the insurer, Continental Casualty Company, the Bulletin reports. In addition to medical malpractice, the lawsuit also claims "negligent credentialing and negligent supervision" against White River Health System, the article says.
