Defining minimum threshold criteria

Minimum threshold criteria translates to the minimum training or numbers that would be accepted to grant someone a privilege. For example, minimum threshold criteria for privileges in orthopedics might be:

 

  • graduation from an accredited medical school
  • successful completion of an approved Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) residency in orthopedic surgery

For specific advanced privileges, minimum threshold criteria might be establishing a set number of procedures performed.
