The Joint Commission has undergone a new branding effort, shortening its name from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, commonly referred to as JCAHO. The newly shortened name took effect in January, 2007.
According to an official announcement, "the new brand reflects The Joint Commission's continuing efforts to improve the value of accreditation and its utility as a mechanism for improving the quality and safety of patient care." The company's extranet, formerly known as "Jayco," has also been renamed to "The Joint Commission Connect."
Questions regarding the new brand can be directed to brand@jointcommission.org. To view the official announcement of this change, go to www.jointcommission.org.
