Study: Electronic health records face financial, legal barriers

According to a study published by Health Affairs, authored by Massachusetts General Hospital and George Washington University, found that a number of barriers-financial, legal, and technical-have restricted hospitals and physicians from implementing programs using electronic health records. The report found that a scant one quarter of doctors use electronic health records, and only an estimated 5% of hospitals in the U.S. have implemented programs using computerized physician order entries.
