The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced this week it is working to develop a common set of standards to measure all health plans, and is currently seeking input from sources throughout the industry on how to bring these standards into alignment.
Currently, NCQA MCO Accreditation standards base evaluations on the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS), while PPO Accreditation standards to not, and the NCQA will look at expanding PPO standards to include HEDIS reporting. The study will also examine structural differences between health plan types and the effect of these differences on aligning standards.
