According to a recent Harris Poll (April 11-17, 2006) large numbers of adults support the publishing of free, online and readily available results of federally-funded research on healthcare issues and other related topics. The results of the poll demonstrate a belief that providing this type of research data online will help patients with chronic illnesses or disabilities find the most up-to-date information on their conditions.
More than 80% of adults agreed that tax dollar-funded research results should be free and easily available online; and that if this information is available free and online, it will assist patients with chronic illnesses or injuries.
Six in ten adults agree that making this information easily available will speed up finding potential cures for diseases, according to a Harris Poll release.
