The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) announced that it has signed a license agreement with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to designate the American Osteopathic Information Organization's (AOIO) Physician Profile service as an official ABMS display agent.
This agreement allows the American Osteopathic Information Association (AOIA) to provide primary source specialty board certification information on behalf of the ABMS in instances where an osteopathic physician may be certified by one or more ABMS member board in lieu of or in addition to certifications by AOA specialty boards.
The AOIA Physician Profile includes primary source information on all osteopathic physicians, including those who hold certificates from ABMS member boards. With the designation of ABMS official display status, credentialers can consider the AOA profile listing of ABMS board certification adequate for primary source verification purposes.
