The American Medical Association's (AMA) Health Care Recovery Fund received an infusion of grant money that will help doctors affected by hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma rebuild their medical practices.
The $100,000 grant was provided by the Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute (FAMRI). The Health Care Recovery Fund was started by the AMA to assist physicians affected by natural or man-made disasters.
"FAMRI's generous gift will go a long way towards helping physicians rebuild the health care infrastructure in areas hit hardest by the recent hurricanes, and we are grateful," said AMA Foundation President Linda B. Ford, MD. "Ongoing support will be needed to help the medical community deal with these tragedies and those that have yet to occur."
For more information on FAMRI, the Health Care Recovery Fund, see the AMA's website at http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/15706.html.
