What factors should I consider when establishing a time frame for physician reappointment?

When defining a time frame for reappointment, be sure to allow adequate time to prepare application packets (e.g., five months in advance). You'll also want to factor in 30 days for receipt of the packet from an individual practitioner, and 60 days for required verification of the practitioner's credentials. Also, allow time for completion of the following reviews based on meeting schedules: section chief, department chair, any special procedure reviews, credentials committee, executive committee, and board of directors
