The NCQA has released draft standards for "Quality Plus," its new optional accreditation program that is designed to recognize innovation.
NCQA says the program is designed to highlight health plans whose innovative approaches to member communications, care management, physician compensation, and other activities are models for the industry.
The first set of standards focus on how well a plan uses technology to provide members with interactive health tools and information about pharmacy benefits, claims, and health improvement, according to an NCQA press release. Called "member connections" the standards relate to phone and Web-based access to information, claims efficiency and accuracy, and other areas. Go to http://www.ncqa.org, to see the draft standards.
