Hospitals can expect to pay an average $2,700 more for their triennial JCAHO survey starting in 2005, the accreditor announced this week.
And hospitals with 200 or more beds, will see an additional survey fee of $3,500 as the JCAHO adds a certified health care engineer to surveys of larger hospitals starting January 1, 2005, the JCAHO said in a news release. The additional surveyor will enhance the JCAHO's ability to evaluate hospital compliance with Life Safety Code and physical plant requirements, the accreditor said.
The rate increases, which vary by accreditation program, were set by the JCAHO's Board of Commissioners September 7. The JCAHO will release the actual fee schedule later this month, but provided estimates of average fee increases ranging from $300 for critical access hospitals to $3,000 for networks. Hospital and network program fees are proportionately higher because of the greater overall complexity of those surveys, the JCAHO said.
