The NCQA has added a new, searchable database to its Web site that allows visitors to search for information about a physician by area of expertise, location, and other criteria. NCQA says its Web site will make information about physician quality readily available to millions of consumers.
The data on doctor quality is drawn from physician recognition programs in the areas of diabetes and cardiac/stroke care, the NCQA said in a press release. For example, a person looking for a physician with special expertise in treating diabetes in the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina could enter that information and receive a listing of physicians in the area who meet the criteria, the NCQA said.
