Prior to granting privileges, organizations evaluate:

  • Challenges to licensure registration
  • Voluntary and involuntary relinquishment of licensure/registration
  • Voluntary and involuntary termination of medical staff membership
  • Voluntary and involuntary limitation, reduction, or loss of clinical privileges
  • Evidence of an unusual pattern or excessive number of professional liability actions resulting in a final judgment against the practitioner
  • Relevant practitioner-specific data compared to aggregate data, when available
  • Morbidity and mortality data, when available

This week’s Q&A is from HCPro’s Core Privileges for AHPs by Carol Cairns, CPMSM, CPCS and Sally Pelletier, CPMSM, CPCS.
