Tip of the week: Use cost codes to track budget expenses

If you’re having difficulty determining how much money out of your general medical staff budget you’re spending on credentialing fees, request a separate credentialing cost code. But be prepared to answer some new questions: Should credentialing educational resources be charged to this account? Should the funds only be used for verifications? Organizations will need to answer these questions based on what’s in their best interest.
