JCAHO revises primary source verification standard

JCAHO surveyors attending training in Chicago this week learned of changes that will take effect in 2004 regarding the organization's primary source verification standard.

The accreditor will add an intent statement to standard MS.5.4.3.1 (seeking primary-source verification) that categorizes medical school-approved designated agents as primary-source verification. Therefore, credentialing professionals do not have to go directly through the school to verify an applicant's medical degree.
