The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) found that some, but not all, of the accusations of poor credentialing practices at Alexandria VA Medical Center in Pineville, LA were true, according to a March 31 OIG Healthcare Inspection report.
Some of the truthful accusations included that medical staff leaders signed blank credentialing and privileging recommendation forms before the MSP filled in the appropriate information, and that staff members filed licensure renewal information in the wrong section of VetPro, the organization’s credentialing software.
This is not the first time the OIG has investigated a VA hospital’s credentialing and privileging practices. Click here to read about the Marion VA case.
