FDA approves heart valve inserted via catheter

If you help your new technology committee research medical devices, here’s one to make note of. The FDA recently approved a heart valve that can be inserted via a catheter rather than traditional open-heart surgery. Medtronic’s Melody transcatheter pulmonary valve is the first such valve available for sale in this country, according to a January 26 Wall Street Journal article.
