The Joint Commission posted a draft of standard MS.01.01.01 (formerly MS.1.20) on its Web site for field review yesterday. The revised standard MS.1.20 sparked controversy because critics said it included confusing language regarding the term “organized medical staff” and appears to diminish the responsibility and authority of the hospital board and medical executive committee.

MSPs and other interested parties are welcome to comment on the draft standard during the field review period, which ends January 28, 2010.
