Providing support to the medical staff officers or committee chairs is an essential role of the MSP. Simply put, good support helps leaders to be effective. Knowing they have a knowledgeable MSP on whom they can rely when they have questions related to policies and procedures is important. MSPs also help keep these individuals on track by providing follow-up materials or by helping prepare for upcoming meetings. The MSP typically will draft important communications for medical staff leaders or committee chairs and handle the distribution of such information.
This week’s tip is from The Essential Guide to Medical Staff Reappointment, Second Edition, by Anne Roberts, CPMSM, CPCS.
