FCVS fact sheets are available on the Federation of State Medical Boards’ (FSMB) Web site (http://www.fsmb.org/pdf/FCVS_JCAJO_principles.pdf). The service started in 1996, and was recently enhanced so that graduate medical education programs can electronically submit information about graduates, rather than mailing in documents.
The Joint Commission accepts FCVS as primary source verification of the following documents:
- Identity
- Medical School
- Post graduate training
- License examination history
- FSMB sanction history report
- American Board of Medical Specialties specialty board certification (to be added soon)
- Educational Commission for Foreign Medical, as applicable
